There'll be no copy and paste around here...

Last week I was scrolling through my LinkedIn feed and came across a Social Media Manager posting regularly, getting great engagement, and rather than thinking something positive like I usually do, it actually really annoyed me.

Why? 🧐

Because every post was copied word for word from Chat GPT. The Americanised spelling, the punctuation, the language, all the posts were giving ā€˜Give me 30 LinkedIn posts related to social media and content creation’. And while that type of prompt can be great to help with ideas when they’re not flowing, I was surprised someone in digital marketing would actually copy and paste like that. I understand it if you’re not at a stage to hire or outsource and see the value of digital marketing, AI can be unbelievably helpful in these situs.

I’ve worked in digital marketing for more than 10 years and have been freelance for nearly 2 years now. I’ve worked with companies and people who haven’t believed the value in my work. Thinking I’m just sitting on Facebook/Instagram/Pinterest while I’ve quietly brought thousands of new visitors/followers to their websites and of course, the sales that come with this.

It’s been challenging at times and I’ve no doubt it will be again, but I love what I do. At no point have I ever thought ā€˜I’ll just get Chat GPT to write this for me’. It made me wonder if the person does this for the company/clients they work with.

So what’s my lesson here?

Well it’s given me the motivation I needed to share my experience and views on LinkedIn. And there'll be no copy and paste šŸ˜
